Takehara

Thank you for all the support of our Pozible campaign... we are here in Takehara!
We arrived 2 weeks ago and have been busy making making making. At the moment we are setting up and will be exhibiting our pieces over the next week.

We are staying at Chosenji temple, 5km out of town. We walk an hour to and from our studio, located in the historic district of Takehara. We walk in between mountains and follow the river into town. The views are just breathtaking :)

Takehara International Art Exhibition/ Residency + our Pozible campaign

We have been invited to participate in the Takehara International Art Exhibition and Residency. It will take place over a month, during April and May 2013.
To help us fund for our trip we have started a Pozible crowd funding campaign. We would love for you to have a look, there are also some very special rewards only available for the duration of the campaign.

Takehara is a small historic town in Hiroshima Japan. The Art Exhibition and Residency is an annual Art Festival run by the local government. This year, the festival will coincide with the local Bamboo Festival. You can read more about our residency and the campaign here:

One week left at Craft!

Our Craft Victoria window exhibition has one week to go!
Time seems to be flying by very fast. It was such a busy Christmas and New Years, here is a little glimpse as to what happened to us!

We created a piece for "Useful", an exhibition at Carriage Works curated by Liane Rossler Here and Now
We created a mobile using our mini paper crystals. 8 lucky crystals growing+floating happiness!

After that we moved onto planning our exhibition for Craft Victoria.
We moved out our furniture from the living room and set up a mock installation space.

At the end of last year Papier Mache magazine used our shapes for their collaboration with Cotton on Kids. The shapes will appear in their up coming season campaign. This was followed up by a few watercolour artworks we created for their window display and campaign collaboration.

This will be up in their top 20 stores around Australia from Feb 2013.

Now for some beach time!
Hope you had a great start to the New Year  :)

letters

Yesterday I received a lovely letter from Ebony. The beautiful hand made envelope and cut out shapes reminded me of my letter-writing days in Primary school.
I have kept all my letters and cards in shoe boxes, pushed to the back of cupboards. Some are more than 25years old.(...wowzers?!). Here are some oldies and newies(?) I am sorting through:

Little mini notes, open/close flaps, pop ups, art works, little presents all bundled up in a letter. There is something so special about opening these precious handmade gifts...I should get writing again.

p.s. Thanks Ebony, Emma, Miwa, Kao-chan, Junko chan, Simon for all your letters.
